Last Friday (the 3rd of October 2014) the next local consultation seminar took place – this time in Wrocław! It is a part of a project ‘Nothing about us without us – locally!’. The presence of almost several dozens of participants proved that the issues discussed are still vital and need constant consultation in order to make the solutions more friendly to migrants. The participants were working in five groups, divided according to the five topic of the project: migrants’ involvement in a public life, social policies, labour market, legal status and anti-discrimination policies.
During the summary of group workshops two topics seemed to be most interesting for the participants. As many new students from Ukraine took part in the meeting, they asked a few questions about the possibility of working in Poland, being a migrant student. The representatives of the NOMADA Society spoke about discrimination issues in Wrocław as well. They pointed out that the main problem is reporting the crime of discrimination to the authorities. The reason may be that some migrants do not trust the authorities of their homelands and sometimes they are not aware of their rights in Poland, among which is reporting the crimes of discrimination.
The project is implemented as a part of the National Platform of Cooperation for Integration. The next meeting in the cities gathering significant migrants’ communites are planned in: Łódź (the 8th of October), Lublin (the 17th of October), Kraków (the 20th of October). On the 1st of October the first seminar took place in Warsaw.
On the 29th of October the summary meeting is planned in Warsaw. We invite you to participate!
